Shane Targett MSc FCiLT
Shane Targett is a permanent lecturer in Purchasing and Supply Chain Management at Cranfield University and regularly presents at the UK Defence Academy. He is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport and the academic member of their Supply Chain Forum. He has also served on the expert panel advising the UK National Audit Office on inventory planning and management. Shane graduated from Cranwell in 1981, and, since 1983 has worked throughout the Supply Chain. He pioneered inventory optimisation in the UK MoD in 1993 and in 1995 he graduated from Exeter University with an MSc in Logistics Engineering. He helped Nelson Mandela “New” South African government develop, implement & managed an IS support system that increased operational performance at reduced cost. He has held management posts in: warehousing, stock control, inventory planning, development and support of Logistics Information Systems (IS), Fuels management and Land, Sea & Air transport. Shane now consults worldwide for a huge variety of organisations (Land, Sea and Air) military and civil, using mathematical models to optimise support resources. He has visited over 50 countries across 6 continents. Shane co-founded GIODE Ltd in 2002 and since 2006, has focussed on his research on inventory optimisation.
